Greetings WMHS students and families,
Welcome back to all our students and families. I hope your summer was filled with peace and joy! With the change in new leadership comes a bright new hope to a brand new school year. This summer we have worked hard to what students will see as visible change to our school building and programming.
One of the changes you will already see is an establishment of the middle school getting it’s own identity. Mr. Cossette has been asked to lead the middle school as we set the mission, vision, and goals for the middle school and high school.
Other changes include enhancements to our school security and safety. A new door entry system along with our new School Resource Officer Jonathan Barnes being in the building. This year you can expect regular evacuation and safety drills that will help prepare our students for multiple contingencies throughout the year. All drills will be communicated through our Swift Reach Alert system immediately following the drill.
New Early Release Days have been added to the calendar. Beginning September 14, 2022. Wednesday’s will be early release days for all students. Dismissal time is 12:50 P.M. These new days will enable staff to develop curriculum, enhance instruction, and assessment. Stay tuned for special Wednesday afternoon programming at the Wiscasset Community Center for students that would like to take advantage of this enrichment opportunity. A copy of the new calendar is attached.
.The students first day is Tuesday, September 6, 2022. All student schedules will be distributed on the first day of school or accessed in the Powerschool Student/Parent Portals. If you would like to review your schedule or need to make adjustments please contact the guidance office 882-7722 at the school as soon as possible.
Our Fall sports programs are now underway. We are always looking for more student participation at all levels. Contact our new Athletic Director Mr. Bishop if you are interested in participating in fall sports at cbishop@wiscassetschools.org
Reminder:: breakfast and lunch are available for ALL students at no charge.
Our front parking lot is the designated drop off and pick up location for students before and afterschool. Use of the bus lane is prohibited during this time. During drop off all Middle School students should enter the school through the North Middle School Entrance. During dismissal, parents should also enter through the front door.
On your first day, All High School Students should report to their BLOCK 1 class. Middle School Students should report to their ADVISOR.
You will also receive an electronic copy of the 2022-2023 WMHS Student Handbook with this letter. Please read the entire handbook carefully. It is our hope that the student handbook will help guide you and help you be successful in both your middle and high school years.
Below are some important dates to remember as we proceed into the 2022-2023 school year:
Tuesday, September 6th - First Student Day
Wednesday, September 14th - Early Release 12:50 Dismissal
Thursday, September 15th - Open House and BBQ 4:30- 6:30
Thursday, September 15th - WMHS Picture Day- (Pictures will be taken throughout the day).
