WISCASSET SCHOOL DEPARTMENT
March 25, 2024
Wiscasset School Department follows Maine’s standardized testing as one of the ways we determine a student's progress in their academics. Assessing student learning is an essential aspect of education, as it provides data that can lead to improved instruction and outcomes. These assessments can help educators and parents understand how well the schools are teaching, how well students are learning, and where additional support may be needed. Parents and students will be notified in advance of any assessments that the schools plan to administer. We encourage students and parents to participate fully in our assessment program. It is important to note that parents/guardians may write a letter in advance to the principal to withdraw their child from taking state testing if they choose to. Parents have the right to request information about any policies or procedures related to state and/or local testing at any time. Please reach out to Lucy Preston (lpreston@wiscassetschools.org) or your child's principal with questions.
