Mr. Ray's Ocean and Climate class visited the Marsh River Preserve in Newcastle, owned by the Midcoast Conservancy. The mission was to get a hands-on view of a salt marsh estuarine ecosystem. While they were there, they observed multiple waterfowl species and horseshoe crabs and took note of the unique vegetation around the salt marsh. They also collected water samples to bring back to the lab for the purpose of practicing water quality testing.
