Greenhouse Grows through Generosity and Community Collaboration

Parents and caregivers dropping students off at Wiscasset Elementary may have noticed a new greenhouse which is finished and ready for its first plantings.

The project began when Wiscasset Garden Club members Ann Light and Annaliese Incháurregui, along with teacher Becky Hallowell saw the potential for a second life for the wide harbor-view windows Water Street Kitchen and Bar was replacing. 

Garden Club president Sheila Scott stored the windows in her barn for nearly a year before construction began. Hawkins Building Group designed and built the structure, with materials donated by Hancock Lumber of Damariscotta.

The Garden Club thanks Hawkins Building Group and Hancock Lumber, George Chase (Wiscasset Code Enforcement Officer), the Scotts, Water Street Kitchen and Bar, and everyone else who helped bring the project to completion.
