Wiscasset Wolverines defeats Islesboro 4-1

Wiscasset Boys Varsity Soccer team scored three goals in the first half, including several opportunities on breakaway goal attempts, but the Islesboro Ryder Durkee, the goalie, made some spectacular saves. Wiscasset controlled possession and the overall tempo in the second half to win 4-1. 

Teagan Marr led all scorers with two goals, and Julien King assisted both goals. Paul Lambert scored a goal, assisted by Gavin James. Julien King scored a goal, assisted by Gavin James.

Finley Conover scored for Islesboro midway through the first half to make it a competitive game, but Wiscasset pulled away and kept relentless pressure on the Islesboro backline, winning comfortably 4-1. Islesboro won 11 games last year and returned four exceptional players. 

Wiscasset improved the striker play with creative passing, and I really enjoyed Paul Lambert filling attacking space and striking the ball into the left corner from on top of the penalty box from a terrific assist from Gavin James.

The next soccer game is Pine Tree Academy on Friday, September 11th and the Pine Tree Academy roster boasts international and out-of-state players. It will be a great test to continue to improve our soccer team.
