5th graders

In May, Wiscasset Elementary School 5th Graders visited the Maine Mobile Biolab. Students spent time throughout the week conducting science experiments focused on watershed planning, micropipette challenges, and chemical vs. physical changes. 5th Graders practiced teamwork and attention to detail while designing cities, measuring microliters, and combining various chemicals. This exciting program was offered at no cost to grades 3-6 thanks to the efforts of 5th-grade teacher Kate Myles, who won this experience for our students in a grant contest!

From the Maine Biolab Website: “The Maine Biolab is a state-of-the-art mobile science lab that meets students where they live and learn for an entire week. Onboard the Maine Mobile BIOLAB, students from 3rd-grade and up will solve engineering design challenges and work cooperatively to design a product or process using model STEM activities. While working, students will have access to tools and equipment not available in their local schools, led by on-board educators.”
