Alyson Graham took her Sports History class on a trip to the Sea Dogs game last week at Hadlock Field.
One of the highlights happened before the game even started when Evan Puterbaugh had the chance to throw out the first pitch for Wiscasset. He did an awesome job, and definitely looked comfortable out there on the mound.
Later in the game, Evan, KK, Brandon, Mathew Garcia, and Chris Lincoln were picked from the crowd to take part in a spoon race between innings. Chris ended up winning it and earned some bragging rights for the ride home.
The students also managed to come away with several practice balls tossed into the stands by Sea Dogs players during warmups. More importantly, though, they represented the school really well throughout the entire trip. They were respectful, engaged, and fun to be around all afternoon.
The most important part of the day happened when a younger girl sitting nearby missed out on getting a ball after another kid grabbed it first. Evan noticed and walked over and gave her his signed ball without making a big deal about it. His kindness and generosity in that moment made Wiscasset Middle High School proud and showed the type of character our students can have when nobody is asking for recognition.
Teacher Alyson Graham and the students enjoyed a really fun day at Hadlock Field. This was a good reminder that our students represent Wiscasset well, both in and out of school.
