WISCASSET ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MUSIC AND ART SHOW

MAY 11, 2026 (Wiscasset, ME) –

On May 6th, Wiscasset Elementary School presented an evening of art and music for students, families and the community.

The Art Show featured work from all students in grades K-5. The hallways were filled with excitement for the many amazing works from all of our students. Art teacher Ms. Proffetty displayed hundreds of pieces of student work using many different media. A highlight was the hall that featured art representing the timeline of man.

The music concert took place that same evening with the kindergarten, first, second and third grade students presenting a concert themed “Celebrate America’s 250th.” Students were excited to perform on the school stage for their families and friends.

All kindergarten through third grade students opened the concert by inviting the audience to stand and join them for the National Anthem. Students proudly sang “The Star Spangled Banner” for all.

Kindergarten and first grade students then continued the program with several songs including “This Land Is Your Land,” “That’s the American Way,” “Medley of the Wee Americans” and “George Washington.” Two other favorites included instruments–“Freedom March” where all the students played rhythm sticks, and “You’re a Grand Old Flag” where third graders accompanied the younger students by playing the bucket drums. The final piece was “Oh, I Love America.”

For this song, students performed a colorful scarf routine and students spelled out the letters of America for the audience.

Following that, the second and third graders presented their portion of the concert. Their songs included “The Constitution Song,” “American Medley,”(“America the Beautiful” and “My Country ‘tis of Thee”) “Yankee Doodles Pony,” “Fifty Nifty United States” and “America America” (which was accompanied by students on the classroom Orff instruments). They also included a movement routine to John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” that featured students moving flags in unison to the music.

The finale was presented by all students singing and dancing to “Thankful for the USA.”
