Niko the READER!
Niko is in Ms. Stover's first grade class. Over vacation, he read every single night and worked his way through a stack of books. He also spent time doing word work — finding smaller words hidden inside bigger ones. Niko searched for smaller words inside the names George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, a challenge sometimes called “words within words.”
Because of all that hard work, Niko got to do something really special! He helped Ms. Meehan and Ms. Bosse serve lunch to his entire class in the cafeteria. He could not have been more excited. As his classmates came down the line, he asked each of his friends what their choice would be. It made him feel like a real leader and showed his classmates that being a good reader pays off in more ways than one.
Serving lunch was the perfect reward, and Niko took his job very seriously.
