By Dennis Wellman, Maine State Chair ESGR

Wiscasset, ME. – Maine Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an office of the Department of Defense (DoD), announced that Wiscasset Middle High School (WMHS) and Principal Sarah Hubert received the Patriot Award in recognition of extraordinary support of employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

Dennis Wellman, the Maine State Chair of ESGR stated, “The Patriot Award, Above and Beyond Award is presented by ESGR State Committees to recognize employers like Wiscasset High School at the local level who have gone above and beyond the legal requirements of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act by providing their Guard and Reserve employees.”

Wiscasset Middle High School values veterans and the school leadership is a strong supporter of the Armed Forces, especially if duties require my absence from work due to military commitments to highlight the school’s commitment to members of the armed forces. Lieutenant Colonel Shanon Cotta nominated WMHS community and Ms. Sarah Hubert for this DoD award.

“Our Nation has relied heavily on Guard and Reserve Service members since entering continuous operations more than 20 years ago. Employer support enhances retention rates in the Armed Forces and, in the end, strengthens our national security. To recognize employers who support their Guard and Reserve employees, ESGR grants a series of Department of Defense awards.”, said Wellman.

Maine ESGR is particularly proud to present employers with a Patriot Award for their strong and unwavering support of their employees serving in our nation’s military forces.
