proud 3rd grade authors

I wanted to share our awesome published book that was made by my third graders! The students worked on a narrative story that was based on an online mystery machine that chose our fate... our setting, characters (and their characteristics), and a plot. From a squishy toucan to a jellyfish who becomes president, the third graders were able to put their writing skills into practice to create their first narrative piece of writing. They started their project sometime in early November, which involved completing three paragraph outlines and to turn those paragraphs into one rough draft. After they edited and revised their draft, it was time to grab the "real deal" papers from the publishing company, Studenttreasures, and complete their final draft. To really give their audience imagery, they each drew a picture that reflected their stories in our classroom book. We sent out our books at the end of November and waited very patiently until mid-January where we received a package in the mail... Our published books! With this exciting journey coming to an end, we celebrated all of the hard work that each student dedicated with a publishing party. We had snacks and certifications for each of the authors and each author read their story to the class. Congratulations to these third graders on delivering these hilarious stories!
