Dear parents, families, friends, students, and staff,
The sun is shining brightly on this last morning of 2023, bringing with it hope and excitement for the new year. Wiscasset has it all, we just need to connect the dots; I’ve been saying that for over ten years. The time is now for Wiscasset Schools to shine!
Look for more hands-on, cross-disciplinary learning projects that utilize the resources naturally available to us in 2024. Our unique place at the center of the midcoast coupled with our drive to maximize all that the region offers to teach our students to think critically and solve real-world problems sets Wiscasset Schools apart. Both of our schools have access to rich, experiential learning opportunities just steps outside their doors. For experiences a bit farther afield, teachers can now take students out in one of our brand new 15 passenger buses, unlocking the whole community and expanding our campus to the edges of the region. We are so lucky to be here now.
Our leadership team is strong, yet still we have a position to fill. Last week I posted the WMHS Interim Principal position internally and on Serving Schools. An Interim Principal will be selected by mid-January to officially captain our ship, so to speak, through the remainder of the 23-24 school year. In the meantime, Sarah Hubert, AP/AD, remains at the helm. Sarah stepped up during a difficult period and has done an excellent job, thanks to her positive outlook and steady hand, of steering WMHS safely and successfully through the fall of 2023.
The future is bright, indeed. To our whole community, including those in town and our many neighbors who choose Wiscasset, I wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year! Thank you for being a part of the Wiscasset Schools community; together our best days are ahead of us.
Sincerely,
Kim Andersson, M.S. Ed.
Superintendent of Schools
